QPR Suicide Prevention Training @ Mercer Public Library | Mercer | Wisconsin | United States
QPR stands for Question, Persuade, and Refer — the 3 simple steps anyone can learn to help save a life from suicide. The goal of QPR is to save lives and reduce suicidal behaviors by providing practical and proven suicide prevention training. Just as people trained in CPR help save thousands of lives each year, people trained in QPR learn how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question, persuade, and refer someone to help. Each year thousands of Americans, like you, are saying “Yes” to saving the life of a friend, colleague, sibling, or neighbor.

QPR can be learned in our Gatekeeper course 1-2:30 pm Friday May 18, 2018 at the Mercer Public Library. The program will be presented by QPR trainer Fred Robinson.

A gatekeeper is someone in a position to recognize a crisis and the warning signs that someone may be contemplating suicide. Gatekeepers are parents, grandparents, children, aunts, uncles, siblings, friends, neighbors, teachers, ministers, doctors, nurses, coaches, co-workers, police officers, firefighters, and any others who are positioned to recognize and refer someone at risk of suicide, and offer hope.

This program is offered to the community at no charge, and all are welcome. For more information, call the library at 715-476-2366.
