Otto Preminger’s Anatomy of a Murder will be shown at Historic Ironwood Theatre on Friday, April 21, 2023, beginning at 7:00 pm.
The crimes and trial took place in the U.P. The movie brought huge stars to Marquette County during the 2 months of shooting- director Otto Preminger, James Stewart, Lee Remick, Ben Gazzara, Eve Arden, George C. Scott, James Daly, Orson Bean, and Duke Ellington, who wrote the jazzy Grammy winning sound track. Marquette County locals appeared in the film as extras in street , tavern and courtroom scenes.
This American film classic, based on the #1 best-selling book, was quite controversial when it came out in 1959, deemed a “dirty picture” & banned in Chicago.
This film is not rated, but the subject matter, which includes explicit discussion of rape and murder, is not suitable for younger children.
