DESCRIPTION:We are extremely excited to continue our partnership with the Gogebic Community College and their ski hill management program to bring the Cor PowerSports series championship weekend to Mt Zion in Ironwood\, MI.\n\nThe event is named “Gogebic Community College Ironwood XC Snowmobile National Championship”\n\n\nThe Ski Area Management Program at Gogebic Community College is one of the nation’s most comprehensive training programs for individuals interested in pursuing a career in the snow sport industry. Technical and academic study is combined with a practical internship which is conducted at major resorts Coast to Coast. Students spend their freshman year and the first eight weeks of their sophomore year completing prerequisite courses.\n\n\nDuring this period\, the Mt. Zion Recreation Complex is utilized as a training laboratory. Mt. Zion is our college-owned and operated winter sport complex located on campus which is open to the public.\n\n\nHosting races are just another training tool for these students\, this event will also serve as funding for the Ski Area Management program as all proceeds from the concession sales will go directly to the budget for continuing this program. Many of the students enrolled in the Ski Area Management will be working in various aspects during the event.\n\n\n\nSnow\, Speed\, and Spectacle: Ironwood Hosts XC Snowmobile Nationals!\n\n\n\nGet ready for high-octane winter action! The Gogebic Community College Ironwood XC Snowmobile National Championship hits Mt. Zion on March 21–22\, bringing top snowmobile racers from across the country to Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.\n\n\nRiders will tackle challenging trails and snowy hills\, showcasing speed\, skill\, and endurance in a thrilling battle for national glory. The event isn’t just about racing—fans can enjoy the winter festival atmosphere\, local food\, and the stunning snow-covered landscape of Big Snow Country.\n\n\n\nHosted in partnership with Gogebic Community College\, the championship also highlights the college’s winter sports and ski area management programs\, blending competition with hands-on learning. Whether you’re a snowmobile enthusiast or just seeking a winter getaway\, this championship promises excitement\, community spirit\, and unforgettable snowy thrills.\n\n\n\nSpectators won’t want to miss the action up close—plenty of viewing areas along the trails offer heart-pounding sights of sleds flying through turns and snow sprays. After the races\, visitors can explore nearby Ironwood shops\, grab a warm drink at a local café\, or cozy up by a fire\, making it a full winter weekend experience for the whole family.
