DESCRIPTION:Tune in from the comfort of your home as Tom Evans\, Ph.D.\, presents four engaging sessions on\nconsidering ethical decisions that are involved in medicine\, whether as patients\, caregivers\, or\ncitizens.\nThe Fe University course “Good Care: Ethics for Doctors\, Patients\, and the Rest of Us” will be held\nvia Zoom on Thursday afternoons\, Jan. 8-29\, 2026\, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.\n\nDr. Evans\, who taught Ethics at North Carolina Central University for more than a decade\, will\npresent mini-lectures\, followed by guided discussions\, on such topics as whether medicine is a special\ncase in ethics; issues of privacy and confidentiality; birth control\, abortion\, and end-of-life care; and\nglobal health\, bioethics\, transports\, and triage.\n\n\nAs a child\, Tom Evans spent his summers with his grandparents in Michigan’s UP. He attended\nCass Tech High School in Detroit. He has degrees from the University of Michigan and the\nUniversity of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He retired as an associate professor in the\nDepartment of Language and Literature at North Carolina Central University in Durham. In his\ncareer he has taught courses in English\, ethics\, mass communication and philosophy.
