Kombucha is an ancient drink, a form of fermented tea first brewed in China 2,000 years ago and popular all over the world. Some people believe kombucha to be a health drink, while others drink it for the refreshing, fruity flavors.

Whatever it is, there’s no question that the popularity of kombucha is on the rise in the United States. If you’re a fan, you will quickly discover that purchasing your kombucha can get quite expensive! Brewing your own can cost as little as pennies per batch and you can make your own favorite recipes and experiment with new flavor combinations, too.

Librarian Teresa Schmidt started brewing kombucha earlier this year and, while far from being an expert in the subject, will talk about the process of getting started with brewing your own kombucha. Learn about the simple equipment you’ll need, the ingredients you need to get started, and how to flavor a fizzy, delicious drink.
