I am going to be optimistic and plan a paddle for Monday, although there is still some slight risk for storms. The paddle coming up is on Rainbow Lake and this will be the closest thing to an exploratory paddle we do. There is no public boat landing on Rainbow, so they are going to be really surprised when a stream of colorful boats comes into their lake. There is an old boat landing on Hwy W with a 1/4 mile of stream that leads into the lake. I was really hoping to paddle it today to make sure we could get through, but the spotty weather kept me at home. I have paddled it in the past, starting at Birch Lake, but I have to admit it was earlier in the season. So this might be an adventure. As usual, we will leave from the landing at 5:30 pm.
Directions to the landing from Mercer: Take County J east to County W. Turn left and follow County W past County O, but then start looking. The landing is old and unmarked on the left side of the road, just after the start of a long curve. There is some room at the landing, but trailers are going to find it tight.
We are going for supper to Skyview Lodge and Supper Club. Their address is 11896 County Hwy W toward Presque Isle, again on the left side
