DESCRIPTION:Join the Ni-Miikanaake Chapter of the North Country Trail for a hike and cookout at the Presque Isle River in the Porcupine Mountains (Porkies) on Saturday\, September 12!\n📍 Meet: Presque Isle River Parking Area\n🕙 Meet-up: 10:00 a.m. CST\n🥾 Hike begins: Approximately 10:20 a.m. CST\n📏 Distance: About 3 miles\nWe’ll shuttle hikers from the parking area to the Speaker’s Trailhead and hike approximately 3 miles back to the Presque Isle River Parking Area.\nThe trail is mostly flat\, with a larger ravine near the end. Fall colors should be starting to appear\, making this a great time to enjoy the beauty of the Porkies! 🍂🌲\nAfter the hike\, we’ll wrap up the day with a cookout\, potluck\, and plenty of laughs. 🌭🥗😄\nWhat to Bring\n💧 Water\n🥨 Snacks\n🦟 Bug repellent (although insects haven’t been much of a problem lately)\n🐕 Your dog\, if you’d like!\n📍 Directions\nFrom the intersection of Hwy 2 and M-28 in Wakefield\, go east on M-28. Just out of Wakefield\, turn north onto Hwy 519 and follow it all the way to the end in the Porcupine Mountains. The day-area parking lot is on the right at the very end.\nDistance on Hwy 519: Approximately 18 miles\nPresque Isle Day Area coordinates: 46.7082\, -89.9759\nWhether you’re a longtime North Country Trail supporter or have never joined us before\, you’re welcome! We encourage everyone who enjoys our outings to become a member and support the NCT—but membership is not required to come hike\, meet us\, and see what we’re all about.\nCome hike\, eat\, laugh\, and enjoy a day on the trail with us! 🌲🥾🍂
