EAT HEALTHIER THIS YEAR-GROW YOUR OWN VEGETABLES.
Norrie Park Community Garden-Getting Ready for Spring!

In 2000, the Range Master Gardeners in partnership with the MSU Extension, the City of Ironwood, the Gogebic/Ontonagon Community Action, along with a grant received from the Michigan Community Food and Nutrition program, developed a community garden for use by the general public. The City of Ironwood supplied the land and drilled a well to supply water to the gardens.

Because of deer and other animals, the garden is fenced in. Every spring, the garden is first plowed with a tractor. We have a valued volunteer who brings in his tractor to help us get ready for the season. Then amendments are added based on an annual soil test and roto-tilled in. The area is then plotted out and marked into garden plots that are approximately 10X20 feet. We all pick rocks and then we are ready to plant!

The plots are rented out at $30.00 each.

Those who have assistance cards of any sort are given the plots for free.
For information and an application email Sue Davey at smdavey@sbcglobal.net or pick up an application at the UW-Madison Iron County Extension Office in Hurley.

The due date for the application and payment is April 29, 2023
