The Friends of the Mercer Public Library have welcomed photographer Aline Fetter as the Mercer Public Library’s latest Artist in Residence for 2024. Fetter’s photography will be featured in exhibits and events at the library from now through the end of September 2024.
Fetter will share her work at an Opening Reception on Monday, July 22 from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the Mercer Public Library. This event is free and open to the public, and light refreshments will be served. Fetter will present brief remarks about her work at 5:00 p.m.
Aline Fetter has been a full-time resident of the Northwoods since 2018. She began her photographic journey as an advertising executive, supervising dozens of photo shoots and reviewing thousands of photographs, before studying photography at the College of DuPage. Inspired by her passion for nature, Aline began exploring the waterways, roads, and paths of the Northwoods with her camera in hand. She strives to capture the unique moments and patterns in an all-too-transient world. From the subtle beauty of a sun dappled waterlily to the vivacious reflections of autumn on fast moving water, she uses her camera to celebrate nature as it is written in light.
Fetter will be teaching two photography workshops at the Mercer Library during her residency: a Beginning Smartphone Photography workshop at 10:30 a.m. on August 20 and a workshop on Intermediate Photography with Smartphone and Digital Camera at 10:30 a.m. on September 20. Both workshops are free, but space is limited and registration is required. Call the library at 715-476-2366 to register.
