DESCRIPTION:Festival Ironwood – Free Guided Tours and Silent Movie – Sherlock Jr. \nNoon each day\, Thursday 7/16\, Friday 7/17\, & Saturday 7/18 \nEnjoy a free guided tour of the Historic Ironwood Theatre followed by a silent movie. Learn the history of this beloved local gem: how it became a center of community activity in the 1920s\, was a first-release cinema through the Golden Years of Hollywood\, was the place where generations of local youth enjoyed first dates\, was saved from the wrecker’s ball in the early 80s\, restored through the 80s and 90s\, installed state-of-the-art equipment in the 2020s\, and now presents shows by international\, national and local performers. \nFollowing the 20-minute tour\, enjoy the silent film\, Sherlock Jr. A kindly movie projectionist (Buster Keaton) longs to be a detective. When his fiancée (Kathryn McGuire) is robbed by a local thief (Ward Crane)\, the poor projectionist is framed for the crime. Using his amateur detective skills\, the projectionist follows the thief to the train station — only to find himself locked in a train car. Disheartened\, he returns to his movie theater\, where he falls asleep and dreams that he is the great Sherlock Holmes. These early\, silent films represent the formative years when they honed their skills in sight gags and set pieces.  The film will be masterfully accompanied on the Barton Organ by Tim Mesun with his original score.\nAdmission is free but donations will be appreciated!
