Next week we are scheduled to go whitewater rafting on the Menominee River at Iron Mountain, MI, about a two and a half-hour drive from Mercer. We are going to book our trip with Northwoods Adventures, and the price is $50 plus tax and optional $5 to $10 tip for your guide. Check it out at http://www.michiganrafts.com/. The rafts hold 8 people plus the guide. They would like us to arrive 1/2 hour early, so I think we should plan to leave the parking lot at Faith Lutheran Church in Mercer by 6:45 am. We will be heading south on Hwy 51 to Hwy 70 east in case some of you want to join the carpool enroute. I will need to know by Monday if you plan to go so that I can call them and they can make sure they have enough guides lined up for our group.
You should plan to wear a swimming suit, quick-dry shorts and a t-shirt, and shoes that can get wet and will stay on your feet. And sunscreen. Bring a water bottle, and dry clothes to change into after the trip. And a little cash so we can stop for lunch on the way home.
