Yazmin plays live at Cold Iron Brewing!
Yazmin grew up with musician parents, so life on the road and writing songs is the world she knew from day one. Her career has taken her many places from recording at Fantasy Studio in Berkeley, California to opening for Nanci Griffith in Bayfield, Wisconsin. At a young age she fell in love with Cuban music and has spent over a decade studying with master in the field Rebeca Mauleón-Santana, among others. She has performed extensively throughout the country with multiple midwest salsa groups including Salsabrosa, Charanga Tropical and her own group La Banda Nueva. Two winters ago she finally fulfilled her dream of living in Havana, Cuba to study music and dance at the Instituto Superior de Arte as well as with private instructors. She also studied piano performance under a full scholarship at McNally Smith College of Music. Songwriting has always been the common thread for her and earned her recognition as the 2010 Lake Superior Big Top Chautauqua Songwriter of the Year. Currently she’s in the production stage of her third album, THE NAUTILUS, to be released in June 2018, which was recorded in Cuba with her production team at Mo.Record Studio. Through her songs she seeks to communicate directly to the raw, human hearts inside all of us that long for connection.
