SUMMARY:Haunted History Flashlight Tour
DESCRIPTION:Everything looks different in the dark! \nMark your calendars and get your flashlights ready! \nThe Iron County Wisconsin Historical Society Museum will be hosting our award-winning Haunted History Flashlight Tour on Saturday\, October 11 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:30 P.M. \nCome listen to all new stories about the spookier side of Iron County’s past! \nTickets will be sold at the Senior Center starting at 5:50 P.M. and will end at 8:00 p.m. \nThe costs are $5 for single\, $10 for family groups (maximum 5 people)\, and $15 for large groups(6 or more people). \nTours will depart from the Senior Center every 10 minutes and will be led to the museum. \nIt will be dark\, so you will be allowed to bring a flashlight with you. The tour will take you through all three floors of the museum so there will be stairs. Please wear appropriate shoes! \nDue to the nature of the tour\, it is not recommended for children under the age of 5. \nChildren under the age of 12 should be accompanied by an adult. SUMMARY:Dedication of Memorial to Hurley native\,  Attorney Leon Lewis [1888-1954]
DESCRIPTION:The Iron County Historical Society will be dedicating a memorial to Hurley native Leon Lewis (1888-1954). He was the first Executive Secretary of the B’nai B’rith Anti-Defamation League. Later he became a corporate attorney in Los Angeles\, where he created a surveillance network focused on thwarting Nazi attempts at an armed insurrection on the West Coast. His life is the subject of several books\, including the Pulitzer finalist biography\, “Hitler in Los Angeles- How Jews Foiled Nazi Plots Against Hollywood and America.” (Bloomsbury\, 2017) \nThis special Memorial Dedication will take place on August 20\, 2025 at 4:00 PM at the Iron County Museum on Hurley. \nThere will be a reception following the dedication at the Iron County Senior Center.
