SUMMARY:Hygge Hike at Night
DESCRIPTION:The 8th annual Hygge Hike will be taking place on Saturday\, February 28\, 2026 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at the Historic Montreal Ski Trails. This event is being planned in partnership between NICER and the Penokee Rangers Trail Corps\, \nParticipants will arrive to find a variety of luminaries lining the 1.5 mile route along a portion of the Historic Montreal Ski Trails\, with multiple bonfires\, Swedish torches\, and a few other surprises along the way. Late Run Coffee will also be on site. Participants are also encouraged to wear anything that GLOWS to help light up the night (glow sticks\, LED light vests\, reflective clothing\, black light or colored flashlights…get creative)! \nDon’t have snowshoes? We have you covered! The Extension Iron County office will have their community snowshoes available to use for FREE\, with kids and adult sizes to choose from\, while supplies last. \nA $10 donation per family will be collected at the trailhead\, with proceeds to benefit NICER and the Penokee Rangers (who maintain the Historic Montreal Ski Trails on a volunteer basis). Parking will be limited. We will share parking details soon. \nEven though this is a dog friendly trail system\, we ask that you leave your dogs at home during this event.

Participants are encouraged to arrive in costume and bring a trick or treat bag to collect candy from the themed stations set up along the trail.\n\nTERROR TRAILTIME: 7:00 – 8:30 PMCOST: $10 per person\nThe Terror Trail is an experience not for the faint of heart! Participants walk the dimly lit trail\, which is filled with themed costume stations that ranged from strange and spooky to downright terrifying!\n\nINTERESTED IN VOLUNTEERING? Last year\, 75+ individuals signed on to man themed stations along the Spooky Trail. These stations had a great time getting into character and 95% of them volunteered at both trail experiences.
