Next week we will paddle on Fisher Lake, part of the Turtle River chain. At 441 acres, it is larger than we can get around in one evening, and as it is connected to Catherine Lake by a culvert and then Cedar Lake by a channel, there are plenty of places to paddle on multiple visits to this lake. After the paddle we are invited to a potluck at the home of Kris and John Bitner, Catherine Lake Road. Kris says she will have hot dogs, buns, baked beans, tea, lemonade. Please bring a dish to pass and your drinks if you want something else. RSVP by Sunday night so Kris knows how much food to have ready, please.
Directions to the landing from Mercer: County J east to Carow Park. Turn left there onto County Road H and go about 5 miles. When Cty H makes a sharp left turn, do not turn but continue straight onto Fisher Lake Road. Stay on Fisher Lake Road for about 2.5 miles and you will come to a split with many names on the signs. Take a right on Fisher Road East and go another 1/2 mile to Gregie Road which will be on your left. The boat landing is at the end. See you next week?
