The Broken Ambulance Tour begins its Michigan run in Ironwood on Tuesday, Oct. 6, at 9 a.m. at Downtown City Square, 127 W. Aurora St.
Last year, Aspirus Hospital closed its labor and delivery unit. Expectant mothers in the western U.P. now face long drives, often over winter roads, to give birth. Across Michigan, hospitals and clinics are closing, rural health services are disappearing, copays are rising, and Medicaid coverage is on the chopping block. Up to 700,000 Michiganders could lose coverage.
We’re bringing an ambulance to Ironwood to show what that crisis looks like. Join neighbors and local voters who will share personal stories about paying more and getting less care. Bring a healthcare sign if you have one (extras will be on hand), and bring a neighbor or four.
Show up Oct. 6 in Ironwood and make Michigan families impossible to ignore.
