A YURT OF WOOL, A WORLD OF TRADITION

Experience a traditional Mongolian yurt, made of thick felted wool walls wrapped around a collapsible wooden frame. Then join fiber artist Linda Johnson-Morke for a hands-on workshop to create a large felted tapestry using wool sourced from local sheep farms. You will discover that transforming fluffy wool into felt is nothing short of magical!

Linda Johnson-Morke has been a fiber enthusiast since she started knitting at the age of five. Knitting led to spinning, which led to sheep, which led to felting. Trips to Norway and Mongolia furthered her knowledge of the felting process. Her capstone project was felting the covering for an authentic yurt. Linda lives on a sheep farm in Isanti, Minnesota.

This event takes place on Saturday, July 5th at 1:00 PM in Miners Memorial Heritage Park.
