Over a million acres to explore by canoe makes Ontario’s Woodland Caribou Provincial Park a paddler’s dream destination. Fewer than 1000 people visit this park any given year so the wilderness experience is amazing. A combination of Canadian shield and boreal forest surround you as you travel waterways used by trappers of the past and the first nation peoples that lived here. Wildlife, pictographs, great scenery, and great fishing await those who are willing to paddle and camp this vast wilderness.

Al and Marsha Fairfield will talk about their experience paddling and camping in Woodland Caribou at an “Armchair Travel” program at the Mercer Public Library on Tuesday, April 30th at 4:30 p.m.

Al and Marsha are living their dream in the UP. Al draws on his background in biology, ecology, hunting, and fishing and Marsha is a WI Master Naturalist and kayak instructor. They spend lots of time sharing their love of the outdoors as naturalist at several nature centers, leading adventures, and promoting an active outdoor lifestyle. They love to paddle, hike, camp, go waterfalling, and take lots of pictures to share.

The program is free and open to all, and light refreshments will be served. For more information, call the library at 715-476-2366.
