Be sure to stop in to Contrast Coffee in Ironwood to see the work of the March Artist of the Month:  Donna Wilcox!

A Bit About Donna:
Donna began her “wildcrafting” in the early 1990’s. It was one of the many ways she helped support her young family, enabling her to be a full-time mom while homeschooling her two daughters. Today, she and her partner live in a hand built off grid log house in the middle of the Ottawa National Forest.
Donna learned dried flower craft from her mother-in-law, Mary Boyle, whose passion for herbs and flowers began over seventy years ago. Mary is still going strong at 89 years of age, and provides most of the botanical materials in Donna’s projects. Antiques and treasures from thrift stores and garage sales, as well as her own hand made baskets, add to the one-of-a-kind appeal in all of her work.
Donna says, “Growing herbs and flowers and gathering from the wild has always intrigued me. It’s a delicate process involving timing of harvest, and various drying methods to show off the best aspect of each plant in an arrangement.”
In addition to wildcrafting, her favorite things in life are spending quality time with friends and family, exploring the natural world, and enjoying unique foods.
Other hobbies include fiber arts of all kinds, especially those involving sheep and wool. She also loves traveling with her best buddy, Kikyo, a 10-year-old Australian Shepherd.
