The Iron County Historical Society will be dedicating a memorial to Hurley native Leon Lewis (1888-1954). He was the first Executive Secretary of the B’nai B’rith Anti-Defamation League. Later he became a corporate attorney in Los Angeles, where he created a surveillance network focused on thwarting Nazi attempts at an armed insurrection on the West Coast. His life is the subject of several books, including the Pulitzer finalist biography, “Hitler in Los Angeles- How Jews Foiled Nazi Plots Against Hollywood and America.” (Bloomsbury, 2017)
This special Memorial Dedication will take place on August 20, 2025 at 4:00 PM at the Iron County Museum on Hurley.
There will be a reception following the dedication at the Iron County Senior Center.
