Gogebic Community College is excited to announce that Ironwood-resident Steve Cole will be coming to speak in the Lindquist Student and Conference Center Gym for Black History Month on Monday, February 28th at 10:30am.  Steve will take on the role of Frederick Douglass, with a 20-minute talk and ending with a 10-minute Q&A session.  This unique and informative event is free of charge and open to everyone!  GCC will also be live streaming https://www.twitch.tv/gogebic_bot.

Frederick Douglass was a formerly enslaved man who became a prominent activist, author, and public speaker. He became a leader in the abolitionist movement, which sought to end the practice of slavery, before and during the Civil War.  After that conflict and the Emancipation Proclamation of 1862, he continued to push for equality and human rights.

This program originated because of collaborating with members of the Ironwood, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Team.
