Did you know that there is now a snowshoe loop at Black River Harbor that intertwines with the North Country Trail thanks to our friends at the Ottawa National Forest??
Join the Ni-Miikanaake Chapter of the North Country Trail for a full moon snowshoe hike as they take you on a tour of the new snowshoe route!
Participants will meet at the Black River Harbor parking area (yes, it’s plowed! Also thanks to our friends at the Ottawa) and take off from there to hike the new snowshoe loop while catching the moonrise.
For those who want to stay and mingle and enjoy the full moon, there will be a bonfire to end the hike and hot chocolate provided by Northwind Natural Foods Co-op.
This is a family friendly and dog friendly event with one brief incline, then flat ground. The whole loop is only about 1.5-2 miles.
Come and embrace this NEW snowshoe trail addition to a favorite harbor recreation spot.
If you need snowshoes, there are community resources for free rentals! email Ni-Miikanaake at nmk@northcountrytrail.org if you are in need of snowshoes to participate in this event.
