New Semester begins January 13, 2020!

HOW TO BECOME A STUDENT
Five Easy Steps to Become a Student.
(1) Apply for Admission
Complete the regular application and submit it to the GCC Admissions Office. For non-degree seeking students, complete the short registration form if taking six or fewer credits. Students completing the short form are not eligible for financial aid.
Request your official high school transcript or GED scores and any college transcripts (only if requesting transfer credit or on academic warning) to be sent to the Admissions Office.
(2) Complete FAFSA for Financial Aid
Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Approximately 70% of GCC students receive some type of financial aid. Once accepted for admission, students can apply for scholarships after January 1 for the upcoming Fall/Spring semesters. Note: Re-entry students are exempt from steps 3 and 5, if previously completed.
(3) Complete Assessment Testing
All new freshmen and transfer students are required to complete a college assessment test or submit ACT or SAT scores, if taken within the last 3 years, prior to registering for classes. The assessment, ACT or SAT scores help students identify their reading, writing, and math skills to determine the appropriate course placement. Students may complete the college assessment at GCC’s main campus in Ironwood by calling 906.307.1209 or at the Copper Country Center in Houghton at 906.483.0070.
(4) Register for Courses
Upon acceptance to GCC, all students can schedule an appointment to meet with their advisor to register for classes—after April 1 for the Fall semester and after November 1 for the Spring semester and Summer session.
(5) Attend Orientation
All new freshmen and transfer students are required to attend an orientation session prior to their first semester—in August for the Fall semester and January for the Spring semester.
