JML Forestry announces free event on May 19 to teach Western U.P. landowners about healthy forests.

WHAT: JML Forestry is hosting a series of free online learning events for forest landowners who are interested in exploring the full growth potential of their land.  The events will explore how careful forest management and well-planned harvests can produce income while helping forestland grow healthier.  Each event features a presentation followed by a question-and-answer session.

WHO: JML Forestry is a full-service forest/land management company owned by Longyear Corporation.  Longyear has been dedicated to the sustainable and profitable utilization of forest land for more than 145 years.

For the first virtual session, landowners in the Western and Southern UP are invited to a presentation by JML Forester, Dylan Malone on Wednesday, May 19.  Two one-hour time slots will available for each date: 10:30 AM CST and at 6:00 PM CST.

WHERE: Held via Zoom, guests may register at JML-Forestry.com/May19 or by calling 906-201-5333.

WHY: Northern Michigan is home to more than eight million acres of forestland, most of which is owned by individual families or other private entities.  The JML Forestry team is dedicated to preserving the natural resources and habitats of our region.  JML experts know what an impact our forests have on the health of Northern Michigan and our planet and the company is committed to sharing its expertise with friends and neighbors who own and care for this beautiful land.

Although the Upper Peninsula accounts for only 29 percent of the Michigan’s area, it is home to 45 percent of its forests.  The state’s forestland continues to grow and thrive, thanks to the efforts of local experts who lead the nation in practicing effective forest management and sustainable timber harvesting techniques.  Selective harvests diversify the age and species of trees, making forests more resistant to pests, disease, and the impact of climate change.
