Join ICORE – Iron County Outdoor Recreation Enthusiasts – for their annual meeting on Tuesday, October 25th at 6:00 p.m. at the Mercer Community Center! They will be sharing news of their 2021/2022 activities, electing new board members and officers, and making plans for the coming year. The annual meeting is open to the public, and anyone interested in silent sports in the Northwoods is encouraged to attend. Only current ICORE members will be allowed to vote during the meeting.

Also that evening, there will be a free presentation by John Bates on β€œAt Home in the Northwoods: Reflections on Belonging to a Place.” The program will begin at 7:15 p.m. following the annual ICORE meeting.

John Bates is the author of ten books on the Northwoods and Upper Midwest, and a contributor to seven others. John has been featured on Wisconsin Public Television several times and has been a frequent guest on Wisconsin Public Radio. He has worked as a state forest naturalist for the Wisconsin DNR and owns Trails North, a naturalist guide service. He also conducts outdoor classes for the Natural Resources Foundation of Wisconsin, Nicolet College, the North Lakeland Discovery Center, and many others. For over thirty-one years he has written a biweekly column, β€œA Northwoods Almanac,” for the Lakeland Times in Minocqua, Wisconsin.
