Synopsis
Indian Horse tells the compelling story of Saul Indian Horse, a young Anishinaabe boy with a prodigious talent for hockey. Plucked from his family and sent to a residential school, Saul endures the dehumanizing trauma and abuse of the system. Finding solace and a sense of freedom on the ice, he rises to become a star player. However, the ghosts of his past—the painful memories of the residential school and the loss of his culture—threaten to unravel his life and his passion for the game.
Based on the award-winning novel by Richard Wagamese, Indian Horse is a powerful and poignant look at the devastating legacy of Canada’s residential school system. It is a story of survival, resilience, and the enduring strength of the human spirit.
