Wednesday, September 5th we will paddle on Crooked Lake in the Sylvania Wilderness. Pack a lunch. We will paddle the perimeter of the lake, and probably carry our lunches over one of the portages to another landing to eat. Carpool from Mercer, Carow Park, will meet at 7:20 am. We will meet at the landing at 9:00 am. There is a small fee for day use in the Sylvania Wilderness and I think it is per car, so buddy up if you can. Directions to the landing from Mercer: take County Road J east to County Road W. Turn left to Presque Isle. Turn right onto County Road B and go about 20 miles to Thousand Island Lake Road. Turn left on Thousand Island Lake Road. You can stay on T. I. Lake Road all the way to the entrance to Sylvania on your right, or you can watch for Whitefish Road about 6 miles in, on your right, and take that shortcut. It will put you back on T.I. Road before the park and cut off a significant loop. Turn right again onto Thousand Island and continue to the park entrance on your right.
