Join UW-Madison Extension Iron County Educator, Darrin Kimbler for this FREE outdoor learning experience on Saturday, September 17th from 1 – 2:30pm! Folks will meet at the Interstate Falls parking lot. Bringing a notebook and sturdy walking shoes is encouraged. This class is rain or shine.
This field class is designed to help those that are interested in making maple syrup on how to identify the three main maple species in Iron and surrounding counties. The class will cover how to identify maples both in the growing and dormant seasons. Folks will also learn to identify several non-maple species that can be confusing when maple tapping season rolls around. While the class is designed for those making maple syrup, all who are interested in tree identification are welcome.
