Join us as we dedicate our new Kawai KG-3E conservatory piano in the theatre mezzanine and celebrate the memory of Alex Marciniak, from whose estate we acquired the baby grand.
Alex Marciniak made a lasting impact on the Gogebic Range. His career spanned over 30 years as an instructor at Gogebic Community College, where he taught music appreciation, speech, art history, film history and piano. “Extracurricular” activities ran the gamut from pianist, actor, director, and entertainer. His exuberant personality and generous spirit inspired many.
Here at the Theatre, Alex was instrumental in founding the Gogebic Range Players, an ensemble of theatre enthusiasts. He directed many theatre productions, from intimate dinner theater plays, including “Driving Miss Daisy,” to large stage musicals, most notably “Showboat, “ “Grease,” “Forever Plaid,” “The Taffetas,” and “Chicago.” He also served on the board of directors.
The program includes the piano dedication and a selection of piano performances by Dan Mykkanen, Andrea Alleva, Jane Gruenke & Jan Massie, and Maggie Hill, with vocalists Chris Kelly and Kathy Skolasinski.
