The Ottawa NF Visitor Center is excited to host 19 historic replicas of Smokey Bear portraits created by USFS illustrator Rudolph “Rudy” Wendelin from 1977 to 1995!
These portraits were part of the “Smokey Bear Project,” a promotional campaign created by the Forest Service to highlight natural resources conservation and forest fire prevention in the latter half of the 20th century.
They are proud to display these wonderful works at the Visitor Center, where they will be on display from October 15th through the 25th.
They will also have extended public viewing hours on October 17th and 24th until 7 PM central time.
You can also preview the collection online here:
The Visitor Center is open M-F from 8 AM – 4 PM Central Time, excluding federal holidays. Please call 906-358-4724 for additional information.
