Come out and see the sun as you’ve never seen it before!
The Mercer Public Library is hosting a solar sungazing on Saturday, October 7, 2023 from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm.
View the sun’s chromosphere and see detail sunspots, prominences larger than planet Earth, flares, filaments and more through a Hydrogen-alpha Solar Telescope with the Northwoods Explorers!
Participants will also learn about the upcoming annular eclipse on October 14, 2023, and the total solar eclipse on April 8, 2024.
This program will be fun for all ages, children through adults, and is free and open to all.
For more information, call the library at 715-476-2366.
Participants will use specially-filtered systems that are built to safely view the sun. Never look at the sun with your eyes, sunglasses, or with binoculars or a telescope. It can permanently damage your eyesight.
