Our “Still Learning” series of classes focuses on the FeU generation: who we are, where we’ve been, and what we need. Some crucial planning now will smooth the way later—and this second entry in our series is packed with the hows and whys.

In “Still Learning 2: Be Informed, Be Smart, Be Sure – A guide to planning your estate and understanding probate,” Roxanne Lutgen, JD, CPA and Ryan Long, JD will help you think through your estate planning decisions by learning about estate planning documents, from wills to trusts to powers of attorney. The probate process will be explained, and the growth rate in our senior population, the impacts of the caregiving crisis, and the benefits of long-term care planning will also be discussed.

This four-part course will be held May 9, 16, 23, and 30, from 12:30 to 2 p.m., in the Iron County Boardroom in Hurley. Drinks and snacks will be provided, and students are welcome to bring their own lunches. The entire course is just $10, thanks to a generous donation from the Northern Wisconsin Mental Health Foundation.

Co-instructor Roxanne Lutgen is a semi-retired CPA and attorney, with experience in contract law, auditing, budgets, financial accounting, and higher education administration. Ryan J. Long is an attorney with Sturgul & Long, S.C. where he practices primarily in the area of elder law, which includes estate planning, nursing home planning, and Medicaid planning.
