The City of Ironwood in collaboration with downtown businesses and partners present a special First Friday event for November 2020!

In a year of unparalleled change and challenge, Downtown Ironwood First Friday – Find Our Peace is about taking a moment to celebrate community.

Being mindful of social distancing, folks are invited to mask up and consider the spaces between one another to enjoy:

A StoryWalk® hosted by Ironwood Carnegie Library. Pages of “Be Kind” by Pat Zietlow Miller will be placed at various sites around downtown so readers can walk a route to read the story. Maps will be available at the library and at Northwind Food Coop on Thursday and Friday, November 5th and 6th, and also on the library’s website and Facebook page. Those completing the walk can turn in their maps in the book drop at the library to be entered for a drawing of the book on November 12th. The StoryWalk® concept was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT and developed with the help of Rachel Senechal of the Kellogg-Hubbard Library.

Community art and artists in the Town Square. The DAP will be hosting a “Find Our Peace” message tree where people throughout the community can write messages of peace. There will also be a 3′ by 3′ framed board ready for community members to add an expression of peace with supplies provided. The Peace Tree and the Peace Painting will continue to be on display during the DAP Artists “Merry and Bright” exhibition in the Historic Ironwood Theatre concourse opening Friday, November 13th.
The official opening of the Town Square, with flag raising and ribbon cutting ceremonies starting shortly after 4:00pm.

However, as safety considerations are changing, this activity will not be encouraged. Masks and social distancing remain expectations for participating in this First Friday event.

Happy Hour from 3:00-5:00pm at Cold Iron Brewery.
